The Sunday Roast is a cherished British tradition featuring roasted meat, roasted potatoes, vegetables, Yorkshire puddings, and gravy.

The tradition began in medieval England with communal feasts after Sunday church, often featuring large cuts of roasted meat.

By the 18th century, families would place meat in the oven before church, returning home to a ready-made meal. Roasting meat was a mark of prosperity, with wealthy landowners roasting whole animals for their tenants. In the Victorian Era, roast beef became particularly fashionable, seen as a symbol of status.

The tradition continues today, with people enjoying roast dinners at home or frequenting pubs and restaurants that serve them.

Join us at the Friends’ Pub in Milan on November 8th, 2025, for a heart-warming Sunday Roast and an exciting tongue-twister challenge!
